PRAIRIE GIANT: THE TOMMY DOUGLAS STORY RECEIVES FIRST GEMINI AWARD

October 18, 2006 (Toronto, ON) ­ The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television honoured Prairie Giant: The Tommy Douglas Story with a Gemini Award at a Drama, Variety and Comedy Gala held earlier this evening.

Prairie Giant: The Tommy Douglas Story, a two-part four-hour miniseries produced by Kevin DeWalt of Minds Eye Entertainment, received nine Gemini nominations, more than any other mini-series or television movie and was awarded in the following category:

€ Best Achievement in Make-Up: Donald J. Mowat, Paula Fleet, Jane Meade, Tracey George and Redge Dietrich Tamara Herrod

The 21st Gemini Awards Broadcast Gala will be held for the first time in British Columbia from the River Rock Show Theatre at the River Rock Casino Resort on November 4th, 2006 and will be broadcast on Global Television.

Prairie Giant: The Tommy Douglas Story has been nominated in the following categories to be presented November 4, 2006:
