Concept:
Most of us can point to an adult figure - a parent, a teacher,
or a neighbour who, when we were young and perhaps a bit
confused - pointed the way, gave advice or shared their
expertise so that we could work out a problem or attain
an important goal.
What
if this person - this mentor - could be anyone from the
past?
The
Computer Program:
Fifteen
year-old Oliver Cates has invented VISICRON, an amazing
piece of software that transports any historical figure
into the present day for 36 hours, after which they return
to the exact moment they left, having no conscious memory
of their adventure.
Characters:
The series features Oliver and his close friend Dee
Sampson, a 15 year-old information junkie who has an IMAGISCREEN,
a holographic display system.
Each
week, a problem arises and Oliver and Dee select a historical
figure to mentor them. Utilizing the latest in computer
graphic effects, they zap the historical figure into the
present to help them find a way to solve the problem on
their own initiative.
Loads
of fun results from the "displacement" of historical
figures into the twentieth century and also from the kids'
frenetic attempts to familiarize these characters with the
seemingly strange customs of modern day society.
